Somerset County (MD) Ramps Up Fight Against Opioid Misuse

County health department engages Channel for online campaign

Washington, DC, January 8, 2018—David Franek, chief creative officer of the Channel team, announced today that the Somerset County (MD) Health Department has tapped the firm to develop an online-based campaign to help prevent the spread of opioid misuse and addiction among county residents.

“We are proud to be a part of this effort to combat one of the most serious public health threats in our country,” said Franek. “Opioid misuse and addiction knows no boundaries in the types of people it affects—often people who you would least suspect of being vulnerable. We look forward to doing our part to help make a difference through this campaign.”

Cory Farrugia, Channel team account director, added, “We’re looking to use a variety of media tactics, mostly online, to help draw greater awareness of the danger posed by opioid misuse.” The campaign components will include a refresh of the county’s “Unmask Addiction” website, both visually and in messaging; social media engagement with content directing people to the “Unmask Addiction” website; a PPC Facebook ad and video; banner ads; and use of previously produced radio spots promoting the “Unmask Addiction” site. The campaign will run through April 2018.
